The Club's beginnings go back to September 1970, when a group of Sheltie enthusiasts gathered at the home of Ms Pat Atkins (Kismet Shelties).  Per CCCQ regulations, it operated as a social club for several years. After an accepted period of time, this passionate group of breed fanciers officially became an affiliated club with Dogs QLD (CCCQ).

The Club holds annual Championship and Open Shows, appointing Specialist Judges from both Australia and overseas. The SSCQ also frequently supports dog sports trials, with many shelties and their handlers demonstrating their talents and winning ribbons. These events are thoroughly enjoyed by exhibitors, triallers, the public and the dogs!

We welcome new members and new ideas to keep our Club continuing long into the future!

- The SSCQ have hosted three National Shows in 1994, 2009 & 2024  -
